Connecting to the Grid of ATCO Electric

ATCO Electric is the owner of their electric distribution system. They also operate the electric distribution system of several REAs. ATCO Electric delivers electrical energy to you, but they do not sell this energy to you.

They have done a good job in making Alberta's micro-generation information simple and easy to access on their web site.

=========================================

You need to download the following documents to connect to ATCO Electric's grid:

  1. The Alberta Utilities Commission's Micro-Generator Application Guideline
  2. ATCO Electric's Micro-Generator Application Form
Typically electric wires companies also want you to sign an operating agreement and agree to their terms and conditions. Phone ATCO Electric at +1 780 420 3468 (in Edmonton) or +1 403 245 7397 (in Calgary) and ask whether this is part of their grid-connection process too. If so then ask them to e-mail you these documents.
