Central Alberta REA (CAREA) is the owner of their electric distribution system. Central Alberta REA delivers electrical energy to you,
but they do not sell this energy to you.
Click here for their web site. I haven't found any information about micro-generation on their web site.
Click here for CAREA's newsletter in 2008 October,
in which they present their viewpoint about the micro-generation regulations. I don't agree with
some of the comments they make in their newsletter.
CAREA held two information sessions for micro-generation in January, at which they gave a presentation on micro-generators. The presentation looks accurate, informative and helpful.

You need to download the following documents to connect to Central Alberta REA's grid:
- The Alberta Utilities Commission's
Micro-Generator Application Guideline
- Central Alberta REA's Micro-Generator Application Form
- Central Alberta REA's Micro-Generator Operating Agreement
- Central Alberta REA's Terms and Conditions for distributed generators
-- though these terms and conditions have legally binding information in them that does not apply to micro-generators.
If you have any questions about any of this please call Rick Maclise, CAREA's Planning & Design Manager, at 1 888 211 4011 ext 112.
